I was sad when the International Astromical Union downgraded Pluto, and declared it a dwarf planet. So Pluto, the ninth and last planet, has now had the last laugh, winning the word of the year award from the American Dialect Society. To pluto is to demote or devalue someone or something.
The dwarf planet Pluto was discovered in 1930 by Clyde Tombaugh, a self-taught 24-year old American astronomer working in Flagstaff, Arizona.
