The weather has not been cold enough to inspire knitting or crocheting forays, but then I found this idea - felting old sweaters and cutting them up for mittens. Rita O'Connell of Earth Heart Designs made the mittens on the left. I think that sounds like a really interesting experiment. I don't own a single pair of mittens because they seem a little helpless to me. How can you drive a car wearing these things? Maybe felt the sweater and make a hat or slippers...

These are fabulous. I like the stitching line down the palm. These looks so much fancier than the simple trace around the hand felted mittens I've seen. Do you have a pattern for these? Or can you point me in the right direction to one? I have a ton of felted sweaters that I was going to make a blanket with but the project never got off the ground. Thanks.
Can you point us to the source for the pattern for these mittens? I think it would be a great way to use up all those old felted or damaged wool sweaters. Thank you!
Just click on the title, Felting, and it will lead you to the pattern. I love the stitching too.
Thanks! Now all I have to do is figure out where I put all those felted sweaters!
